OMSI Astronauts

Last week we took a family trip to OMSI. During the week. Thanks to our US Congress and their inability to keep the government running, M is on furlough. We are taking full advantage and I am getting spoiled having him home all the time. I will be sadly brought down to reality whenever he goes back to work. For now though, I'll enjoy the upside of this ridiculous government.

So we went to OMSI on a Thursday (my day off). It was so quiet that we practically had the place to ourselves. Ok, not really, but close.

First Ballet Class

Like a lot of little girls, Lexi and Zara love dancing around the house, wearing tutus and spinning. They were really excited to start ballet and could not wait for today to finally arrive. They had a blast! Whew for me because I never know if someone will change their mind at the last minute. Daddy took them to class and got them all ready, but accidentally put their leotards on backwards :)

Tonight they asked me if they can go to ballet every day. I told them "maybe when you are older". "Like when we are 4?" The rest of the day Zara sang "plie', releve'" over and over and over again.

Eagle Crest Vacation in Central Oregon

We had a fun family vacation week in Central Oregon earlier this month. We stayed at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, took a day trip to Crater Lake and ventured into Bend a few times too. In Bend we visited the gorgeous Drake Park and took the requisite tour of Deschutes Brewery. We spent most of our time at the resort relaxing, swimming, barbecuing, watching the deer family that lived there, riding bikes and we even had a few early morning runs. It was a great time with both of our families who each came and joined us for a few days.

Shirzads in Portland

The Shirzads from Spokane spent a few days visiting us earlier this month. The girls LOVE their cousins and aunt and uncle. We all had a great time taking advantage of all the summer fun in Portland. We rode the preschool rides at Oak Park followed by lunch at Cha Cha Cha and OMSI. The next day we went to the Sunset at the Zoo event. Even Belle and Aurora were at the zoo.

3 year interview

I finally took a few minutes today to sit the girls down and ask them some questions ("interview"). I want to capture their little voices and personalities that are constantly changing and growing faster than I can keep up! Most of their answers are pretty predictable, but a few were pretty random.
